Linear Regression

Learners will be able to:

• Identify the relationship between statistics and probability in real-world applications. • Describe how curve fitting is used to identify the direction and strength of a relationship between two variables. • Calculate the equation of the line of best fit using linear regression with the least squares method by hand. • Use a scientific calculator to find the equation of the line of best fit using linear regression with the least squares method. • Interpret the meaning of the gradient (b) and y-intercept (a) in the context of a linear regression equation.
