Outliers

Learners will be able to:

• Identify outliers in a scatter plot as values that are too high or too low. • Explain why certain data points are considered abnormal and therefore outliers. • Justify a particular set of data as an outlier based on its deviation from the general trend. • Theorise about what an outlier might indicate in terms of its context or circumstances. • Describe how to determine whether a value is an outlier by comparing it to the majority of the data.
