Probability Example 5 Using tree diagrams to calculate probabilities

Learners will be able to:

• Calculate the probability of getting a 5 and a tail using a tree diagram. • Identify the probability of getting an even number and a head from a tree diagram. • Explain how Venn diagrams represent events in terms of outcomes included and not included. • Describe the union of two sets as a new set containing elements in at least one of the sets. • Interpret the intersection of two sets as a new set containing elements common to both sets.
