Properties of Triangles and Similarity

Learners will be able to:

• Recall the definition of similar triangles and explain it in their own words. • Identify the conditions for two triangles to be considered similar. • Rewrite a triangle notation to indicate that it is similar to another triangle, using three vertical lines. • Explain how the order of letters in the notation of similar triangles indicates which angles are equal and which sides are in proportion. • Prove that two triangles are similar by showing either corresponding angles are equal or sides are in proportion.
