Rates of change

Learners will be able to:

• Calculate the instantaneous rate of change of y with respect to x for a given curve. • Determine the average speed or velocity of an object by finding the rate of change of distance with respect to time. • Find the derivative of a quadratic function in the form s(t) = at - bt^2 and use it to determine the velocity of an object at a specific time. • Identify the maximum height reached by an object by setting the derivative equal to zero and solving for t. • Calculate the acceleration of an object by finding the second derivative of distance with respect to time.
