Geometric sequences
Learners will be able to:
• Identify whether a given sequence is geometric by determining if there is a constant ratio between successive terms. • Calculate the common ratio (r) of a geometric sequence using the formula r = term n divided by term n minus 1. • Determine the position of a specific term in a geometric sequence using the general term formula tn = a times r to the power of n minus 1. • Find the value of a term in a geometric sequence given its position and the common ratio. • Express the nth term of a geometric sequence in terms of a and r when two terms are given, and solve for a and r simultaneously.
